The Nature of the Kingdom
…for the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. – Romans 14:17
The Kingdom of God is an invisible, unseen Kingdom, in which God reigns in the hearts of His servants. A Kingdom is a king’s domain, i.e. a domain where a king rules. The nature of God’s Kingdom is the nature of the King Jesus, and this nature of His is imparted supernaturally into the hearts of His servants by the Holy Spirit when we surrender to Him at our conversion. The Holy Spirit’s initial work is to impart into our hearts the perfect righteousness of Christ at the time of salvation. This righteousness is accredited to our account, and grants us right standing in God’s sight, causing us to become His adopted sons and daughters. The effect of righteousness is then peace with God. There really is no peace until the Prince of peace is in one’s heart, and then the combination of righteousness and peace in our hearts produces the spiritual fruit of joy in our lives. Truly the greatest blessings in life are such things as these; things that money just can’t buy. To lay your head on your pillow at night and to have peace of mind and joy of heart because you are fully accepted by the King of Heaven and Earth… now that’s living! Our role now is to be ambassadors of these invisible but real qualities that the Holy Spirit has placed in us. People can’t buy these over the counter or online, but they will come asking us where we got them from if they see them being displayed in our lives. Let’s keep our tanks full.
Prayer: Lord, I thank You for the glorious Kingdom that You invite me into. It really does have the answers and solutions for this world. Let Your kingdom of righteousness, peace, and joy pervade my life, and help me to live as a good ambassador of your kingdom to all who I come into contact with. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
