Shaken Not Stirred – Lili Lemalu
Sounds like something out of a James Bond scene doesn’t it? But at times I’ve walked out my Christianity like an actor in a movie.
Attempting to act like Jesus on Sundays and like the devil’s advocate the other six days.
When I was a kid, my Dad use to frequent the local TAB, one day I saw him studying his Best Bet to see which horse to bet on, and for some reason I said; “Oh right, read the Bible on Sunday and Best Bet the other six days”. This was before the anti-smacking law in NZ, so needless to say, he smacked me.
But from that day forward, my Dad never put another bet on a horse again. He was convicted by my bold insolence.
Unfortunately, I didn’t take my own advice and I went to church on Sundays and then was in to the spirits (not the Holy Spirit) the other six days.
Today I am convicted that this Christian walk is not an act. There is no ‘fake it till you make it’ – it’s the real deal with eternal consequences.
I don’t want to be like the people in Matthew 7 who Jesus said He never knew.
Matthew 7:21-23. 21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’
Shaken not stirred…no James Bond act for this girl.
Why not take a moment now to reflect on your Monday to Saturday lifestyle.
– How does it line up with the purpose and plan God has for your life?
– Is your Christianity contained to just a Sunday service?
– Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you any areas of change that are needed in your world.
You may want to take a moment to pray and ask for forgiveness in certain areas of your life, allow God to bring freedom to you and start today with a clean slate, moving forward in the plans He has for you!
