Spiritual Conception – Devotion
Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. – Luke 1:38
How do things get from Heaven to Earth? Does it happen? Is it possible? Well in this account, a whole lot more than a blessing came down from Heaven. God Himself literally came down – and what’s more, He came down in the form of a baby, conceived in the womb of a young Jewish girl. This is known as the ‘Incarnation’ where God literally came to Earth and took on human form. For any transference from Heaven to Earth, there firstly has to be agreement on Earth with Heaven’s decrees. The reason the angel Gabriel departs after Mary’s confession of submission is because the mission was accomplished once agreement had been arrived at. Mary heard, initially questioned, but finally came into agreement with the heavenly message. Once harmony was achieved, a supernatural conception took place inside Mary, and Jesus was conceived in her womb. In the same manner, when we agree with what the Holy Spirit drops within our hearts, there comes a spiritual conception that eventually brings forth the purposes of God into the world. The word ‘agreement’ comes from the Greek word which we also get our word ‘symphony’ from. God wants us to symphonize with Him; for us to come into complete harmony with Him. This enables His plans to be conceived within our hearts, and then in time come forth into the world, bringing glory to His name. It’s really as simple as saying yes to God!
Prayer: Thank You, Lord, for the wonderful example of how Mary symphonized her life to You. Help me also to hear from You, to surrender my will, and come into complete agreement with You, so that Your divine purposes can be conceived in and birthed through my life, for Your glory. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
