I Found A Hole In My Heart

I’m sure at some point in your life you have experienced feelings of emptiness, I know I have! If you look around, you would find people in your world that are heartbroken or lost. But there is hope! There is a God that loves us more than we can quite imagine!

We are born with a hole in our hearts, that can only be filled by having a relationship with someone that will never hurt us and never stop loving us. We are designed to be loved by God. When we look to another person to fill that hole, we are placing expectations on them that they could never meet. When those people hurt us, even if it’s unintentional, it leaves us with an even bigger hole. When we are going through hard stuff it can often feel like God isn’t there at all. I have been guilty of feeling like I don’t deserve God’s love or not truly grasping just how much God loves me.

It’s easy to beat ourselves up over the little flaws we have and only see the negative things. We often don’t appreciate all the great things about ourselves. We forget how important and loved we are! I have struggled understanding God’s love before. I thought being loved by God meant not caring about what others thought of me. I cared too much about what other people thought about me and I often got caught up in people who didn’t like me and the people that hurt me. I didn’t care about the people that appreciated me and loved me most. I have tried looking for love in different places and every time someone would hurt me, the hole in my heart kept getting bigger and bigger.

If God could find me in the midst of all the pain that I put myself through, then there is no doubt that he would do it for you too! It doesn’t matter how much you are hurting; God’s love isn’t limited to people who have it all together. Romans 8:39 (MSG) says- “I’m absolutely convinced that nothing— nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love.”  No number of likes, relationships or money could ever fill that hole that was designed to be filled by God. Since we are made in God’s image, then who we are depends on who we perceive God to be. If God doesn’t love, then we become unloved. 1 John 4:8 (NIV) says- “God IS love” So if God is love, then we are loved. We are loved despite our flaws, our insecurities, our mistakes and how far we have walked away from God. Wherever you stand with God, whether you have a relationship with him or not yet, God cares for you no matter where you are at. God has an endless, unimaginable and unending love for you.
